Parts and their functions

• Table (rough) (मेज़ (खुरदरी)) — μ_k = 0.04 between trolley and table.
• Trolley, 20 kg (ट्रॉली, 20 kg) — Horizontal: T − f_k = 20a.
• Light frictionless pulley (हल्की घर्षणरहित घिरनी) — Only changes the direction of the string; tension is the same on both sides.
• Hanging block, 3 kg (लटकता गुटका, 3 kg) — Vertical: 30 − T = 3a.
• Tension on the trolley (ट्रॉली पर तनाव) — Pulls the trolley towards the pulley.
• Tension on the block (गुटके पर तनाव) — Pulls the block up. Adding the two equations: 30 − 8 = 23a.
• Kinetic friction (गतिज घर्षण) — f_k = μ_k N = 0.04 × 20 × 10 = 8 N, opposing the motion.
• Weight of block 30 N (गुटके का भार 30 N) — mg = 3 × 10 = 30 N (g = 10 m s⁻²).
• Common acceleration a (उभयनिष्ठ त्वरण a) — String is inextensible, so both move with the same a = 22/23 = 0.96 m s⁻²; T = 30 − 3 × 0.96 = 27.1 N.
