Parts and their functions

• n = 1: fundamental (first harmonic) (n = 1: मूल विधा (प्रथम संनादी)) — One loop: L = λ/2, ν₁ = v/2L.
• n = 2: second harmonic (n = 2: द्वितीय संनादी) — Two loops: L = λ, ν₂ = 2ν₁.
• n = 3: third harmonic (n = 3: तृतीय संनादी) — Three loops: ν₃ = 3ν₁. A string has all harmonics.
• Nodes (निस्पंद) — Points that never move; the fixed ends are always nodes. Adjacent nodes are λ/2 apart.
• Antinodes (प्रस्पंद) — Points of maximum amplitude, midway between nodes.
