Parts and their functions
- Spring (constant k) (कमानी (नियतांक k)) — Obeys Hooke’s law: restoring force ∝ extension.
- Block of mass m (m द्रव्यमान का गुटका) — On a frictionless surface, so only the spring force acts horizontally.
- Mean position x = 0 (माध्य स्थिति x = 0) — Spring unstretched; net force zero.
- Displacement x (विस्थापन x) — Measured from the mean position.
- Restoring force F = −kx (प्रत्यानयन बल F = −kx) — Always towards the mean position and proportional to x — the condition for SHM. ma = −kx ⇒ ω = √(k/m).
- Rigid support (दृढ़ आधार) — Fixed end of the spring.
- Smooth floor (चिकना फ़र्श) — No friction, so no damping in this ideal model.
- Period T = 2π√(m/k) (आवर्तकाल T = 2π√(m/k)) — Independent of the amplitude; a stiffer spring or a lighter block oscillates faster.
