Parts and what they mean
- Axes OX, OY, OZ (अक्ष OX, OY, OZ) — Three mutually perpendicular lines through the origin O.
- Origin O(0, 0, 0) (मूल बिंदु O(0, 0, 0)) — Where the three axes meet.
- x-coordinate (x-निर्देशांक) — Distance of P from the YZ-plane (move along OX). Here x = 3.
- y-coordinate (y-निर्देशांक) — Distance of P from the ZX-plane (move parallel to OY). Here y = 4.
- z-coordinate (z-निर्देशांक) — Distance of P from the XY-plane (move up, parallel to OZ). Here z = 2.5.
- Point P(x, y, z) (बिंदु P(x, y, z)) — Every point in space has a unique ordered triple (x, y, z) — here (3, 4, 2.5).
- XY-plane (XY-तल) — Contains the x- and y-axes; every point on it has z = 0: (x, y, 0).
- YZ-plane (YZ-तल) — Every point on it has x = 0: (0, y, z).
- ZX-plane (ZX-तल) — Every point on it has y = 0: (x, 0, z). The three planes split space into 8 octants.
- Distance from origin (मूल बिंदु से दूरी) — OP = √(x² + y² + z²) = √(9 + 16 + 6.25) ≈ 5.59. Between two points: √((x₂ − x₁)² + (y₂ − y₁)² + (z₂ − z₁)²).
