Parts and their functions

• Intermolecular H-bond (अंतराआण्विक H-बंध) — Between different molecules: H attached to F, O or N is attracted to the lone pair of F/O/N of a neighbour. (HF)ₙ, water, alcohols — raises boiling points.
• Intramolecular H-bond (अंतःआण्विक H-बंध) — Within one molecule, when H and the electronegative atom are close — o-nitrophenol. It makes the molecule less able to H-bond with others (more volatile).
