Parts and their functions
- Radio waves (रेडियो तरंगें) — Longest wavelength, lowest frequency (~10⁶ Hz) — used for broadcasting.
- Microwaves (सूक्ष्म तरंगें) — ~10¹⁰ Hz — used in radar and microwave ovens.
- Infrared (अवरक्त) — ~10¹³ Hz — heat radiation.
- Visible light (400–750 nm) (दृश्य प्रकाश (400–750 nm)) — The only part our eyes can see: violet (≈400 nm, highest ν) to red (≈750 nm, lowest ν).
- Ultraviolet (पराबैंगनी) — ~10¹⁶ Hz — the Sun’s UV causes sunburn; ozone absorbs much of it.
- X-rays (X-किरणें) — ~10¹⁸ Hz — pass through soft tissue; used in medical imaging.
- Gamma rays / cosmic rays (गामा किरणें / कॉस्मिक किरणें) — Shortest wavelength, highest frequency and energy.
