Parts and their functions

• Steel bomb (constant volume) (स्टील बम (स्थिर आयतन)) — Sealed vessel filled with oxygen; volume cannot change, so no pV work: heat measured = qᵥ = ΔU.
• Sample (नमूना) — The combustible substance, ignited electrically.
• Water bath (जल ऊष्मक) — Absorbs the heat released; q = C_cal × ΔT (C_cal = heat capacity of calorimeter + water).
• Insulated jacket (ऊष्मारोधी आवरण) — Prevents heat exchange with the room.
• Thermometer (थर्मामीटर) — Measures the temperature rise ΔT.
• Stirrer (विलोडक) — Keeps the water temperature uniform.
