Parts and their functions
- Splitting of water (जल का विघटन) — At PS II (inner side of thylakoid membrane): 2H₂O → 4H⁺ + O₂ + 4e⁻; O₂ released.
- Photosystem II (प्रकाश तंत्र II) — Reaction centre chlorophyll a absorbs at 680 nm — P680.
- Photosystem I (प्रकाश तंत्र I) — Reaction centre absorbs at 700 nm — P700.
- Electron transport (इलेक्ट्रॉन परिवहन) — Downhill (redox scale) chain of cytochromes; energy used to pump protons → ATP.
- Electron acceptor (इलेक्ट्रॉन ग्राही) — Receives the excited, high-energy electrons.
- Acceptor (PS I) (ग्राही (PS I)) — Passes electrons on to NADP⁺.
- NADPH (NADPH) — NADP⁺ is reduced to NADPH + H⁺ — used in the Calvin cycle.
- Light (≤ 680 nm) (प्रकाश (≤ 680 nm)) — Absorbed by PS II.
- Light (700 nm) (प्रकाश (700 nm)) — Absorbed by PS I.
