Parts and their functions

• Glycerol (ग्लिसरॉल) — Trihydroxy propane — 3-carbon backbone.
• Ester bond (एस्टर बंध) — –O–CO– link formed between an –OH of glycerol and –COOH of a fatty acid (water removed).
• Fatty acid chains (वसा अम्ल शृंखलाएँ) — R groups — e.g. palmitic acid (16 C), arachidonic acid (20 C).
