Parts and their functions

• Afferent arteriole (अभिवाही धमनिका) — Wider; brings blood into the glomerulus.
• Efferent arteriole (अपवाही धमनिका) — Narrower; carries blood out — keeps glomerular pressure high.
• Glomerulus (केशिकागुच्छ) — Capillary tuft; site of ultrafiltration.
• Bowman’s capsule (बोमन संपुट) — Double-walled cup around the glomerulus.
• Capsular space (संपुट गुहा) — Collects the protein-free filtrate.
• Podocytes (पदाणु) — Epithelial cells of the capsule; leave filtration slits (slit pores).
• PCT (PCT) — The filtrate moves on into the proximal convoluted tubule.
