Parts and their functions
- Axon membrane (तंत्रिकाक्ष झिल्ली) — Separates axoplasm (high K⁺) from tissue fluid (high Na⁺).
- Polarised (resting) (ध्रुवित (विराम)) — Outside +, inside − ; maintained by the Na⁺–K⁺ pump.
- Depolarised site (विध्रुवित स्थल) — Na⁺ rushes in; outside −, inside + = action potential.
- Na⁺ influx (Na⁺ अंतर्वाह) — Stimulus opens the membrane to Na⁺.
- Local current (स्थानीय धारा) — Flows to the next site, which depolarises — the impulse moves.
