Parts and their functions
- Testes (वृषण) — Pair of yellowish ovoid testes adhered to the upper kidney by mesorchium.
- Vasa efferentia (शुक्रवाहिकाएँ) — 10–12 ducts from the testes into the kidney, opening into Bidder’s canal.
- Fat bodies (वसा पिंड) — Finger-like fat stores near the gonads.
- Adrenal gland (अधिवृक्क ग्रंथि) — Endocrine strip on the kidney.
- Kidney (वृक्क) — Excretory organ; in males also carries sperms.
- Urinogenital duct (ureter) (मूत्रजनन वाहिनी) — In males the ureter carries both urine and sperms to the cloaca.
- Cloaca (अवस्कर) — Small median chamber passing faeces, urine and sperms out.
- Urinary bladder (मूत्राशय) — Thin-walled; opens into the cloaca.
- Ovaries (अंडाशय) — Near the kidneys, no functional connection with them; a female lays 2500–3000 ova at a time.
- Oviducts (अंडवाहिनियाँ) — Coiled tubes from the ovaries opening separately into the cloaca.
- Ureters (female) (मूत्रवाहिनियाँ (मादा)) — Carry only urine; open separately from oviducts.
- Kidney (वृक्क) — Excretory organ.
- Cloaca (अवस्कर) — Common chamber opening outside.
