Parts and their functions

• Genus (generic name) (वंश नाम) — First word; starts with a capital letter. Mangifera = genus of mango.
• Specific epithet (जाति संकेत पद) — Second word; starts with a small letter. indica = the particular species.
• Author citation (लेखक का नाम) — Abbreviated name of the scientist who first described the species (Linn. = Linnaeus).
