Parts and their functions
- F-actin (F-एक्टिन) — Two helically wound polymers of G (globular) actin.
- Tropomyosin (ट्रोपोमायोसिन) — Two filaments running along the F-actins.
- Troponin (ट्रोपोनिन) — At intervals on tropomyosin; masks active sites at rest; binds Ca²⁺ to unmask them.
- Globular head (गोलाकार शीर्ष) — Active ATPase; binds ATP and actin — forms the cross bridge.
- Short arm (छोटी भुजा) — Joins head to tail; with the head projects as the cross arm.
- Tail (LMM) (पूँछ (LMM)) — Light meromyosin; tails pack together to form the thick filament.
- HMM (HMM) — Heavy meromyosin = head + short arm.
- LMM (LMM) — Light meromyosin = tail.
