Parts and their functions
- Epidermis (anther wall) (बाह्यत्वचा) — Outermost protective layer of the anther.
- Microsporangium (लघुबीजाणुधानी) — Four microsporangia sit at the corners of the four-sided (tetragonal) anther, two in each lobe. In T.S. each is nearly circular, surrounded by four wall layers; later they become pollen sacs.
- Sporogenous tissue (बीजाणुजन ऊतक) — Compactly arranged homogenous cells in the centre of each microsporangium (young anther). Each cell can act as a pollen mother cell (PMC).
- Connective (योजी) — Central sterile tissue joining the anther lobes.
- Vascular bundle (संवहन बंडल) — Brings water and food into the anther through the connective.
