Parts and what they mean
- Core (क्रोड) — High-quality glass/quartz with the HIGHER refractive index; the light travels in it.
- Cladding (आवरण (क्लैडिंग)) — Surrounding layer with a LOWER refractive index, so core→cladding is denser→rarer and TIR can happen.
- Light signal (प्रकाश संकेत) — Enters one end at a suitable angle and strikes the core wall at more than the critical angle each time, so it is totally reflected again and again — even round bends — with very little loss.
