Parts and what they mean
- x-axis (x-अक्ष) — The horizontal number line; inputs x are read here.
- y-axis (y-अक्ष) — The vertical number line; outputs y = f(x) are read here.
- Origin O(0, 0) (मूल बिंदु O(0, 0)) — Where the two axes cross.
- Left piece f(x) = 1, x \le 0 (बायाँ भाग f(x) = 1, x \le 0) — At -0.1, -0.01, -0.001 the value is 1.
- Right piece f(x) = 2, x > 0 (दायाँ भाग f(x) = 2, x > 0) — At 0.1, 0.01, 0.001 the value is 2.
- Left hand limit = value = 1 (बाएँ पक्ष की सीमा = मान = 1) — The filled dot: f(0) = 1, and the graph from the left also reaches 1.
- Right hand limit = 2 (दाएँ पक्ष की सीमा = 2) — Open dot: from the right the graph heads to 2, but f(0) is not 2.
- The jump (lift the pen) (छलाँग (पेन उठाना पड़ता है)) — LHL = 1 \ne 2 = RHL, so f is not continuous at x = 0.
