Parts and their functions

• Straight conductor (सीधा चालक) — A thick copper wire passing normally through the cardboard.
• Direction of current (धारा की दिशा) — Right-hand thumb rule: thumb along the current, curled fingers give the field direction. Reverse the current → field reverses.
• Concentric circles (field lines) (संकेंद्री वृत्त (क्षेत्र रेखाएँ)) — Field is stronger near the wire and weaker far away; more current → stronger field.
• Cardboard with iron filings (लौह-चूर्ण वाला गत्ता) — Tapping it makes the filings line up in circles.
• Compass needle at point P (बिंदु P पर दिक्सूचक सुई) — Its north pole points along the field line at P.
