Parts and their functions
- Magnetic field B (into the page) (चुंबकीय क्षेत्र B (पृष्ठ के अंदर)) — ⊗ marks show a field going into the page. First finger points along the field.
- Conductor (rod) (चालक (छड़)) — Placed perpendicular to the field, it is pushed by a magnetic force.
- Current (second / middle finger) (धारा (मध्यमा उँगली)) — Reverse the current → the force reverses.
- Force / motion (thumb) (बल / गति (अँगूठा)) — Perpendicular to both the current and the field. Here: upward.
- Fleming’s left-hand rule (फ्लेमिंग का वामहस्त नियम) — Stretch thumb, forefinger and middle finger of the left hand mutually perpendicular: forefinger = field, middle finger = current, thumb = force.
