Parts and their functions
- Sound waves (ध्वनि तरंगें) — Compressions and rarefactions in air arriving at the ear.
- Outer ear (pinna) (बाह्य कर्ण (कर्ण पल्लव)) — Collects sound and directs it into the ear canal.
- Ear canal (कर्ण नलिका) — Carries sound to the eardrum.
- Eardrum (कर्णपटल) — Thin membrane that vibrates when sound waves hit it.
- Tiny bones (middle ear) (छोटी अस्थियाँ (मध्य कर्ण)) — Amplify the eardrum’s vibrations and pass them inward.
- Cochlea (कॉक्लिया (कर्णावर्त)) — Converts vibrations into electrical signals.
- Nerve to the brain (मस्तिष्क तक तंत्रिका) — Signals reach the brain, which perceives them as sound. Two ears help find the direction.
