Parts and what they mean

• Identity function f(x) = x (तत्समक फलन f(x) = x) — Every x goes to itself. Graph: straight line through the origin at 45°. Domain = range = R.
• Modulus function f(x) = |x| (मापांक फलन f(x) = |x|) — |x| = x for x ≥ 0 and −x for x < 0. V-shaped graph. Domain R, range [0, ∞).
• Signum function (चिह्न फलन) — f(x) = 1 if x > 0, 0 if x = 0, −1 if x < 0 (= |x|/x for x ≠ 0). Range {−1, 0, 1}.
• Greatest integer function [x] (महत्तम पूर्णांक फलन [x]) — [x] = greatest integer ≤ x: [2.7] = 2, [−1.3] = −2. Steps: filled dot = included left end, hollow = right end left out.
