Parts and their functions

• Stomatal pore (रंध्री छिद्र) — Opening for transpiration and gaseous exchange.
• Guard cells (द्वार कोशिकाएँ) — Two bean-shaped (dumb-bell in grasses) cells with chloroplasts that open and close the pore.
• Thick inner wall (मोटी भीतरी भित्ति) — Wall towards the pore is highly thickened; outer wall is thin.
• Subsidiary cells (सहायक कोशिकाएँ) — Specialised epidermal cells next to the guard cells.
