Parts and their functions

• Outer membrane (बाहरी झिल्ली) — Continuous limiting boundary.
• Inter-membrane space (अंतराझिल्ली अवकाश) — Outer compartment between the two membranes.
• Cristae (क्रिस्टी) — Infoldings of the inner membrane towards the matrix — increase surface area.
• Matrix (आधात्री (मैट्रिक्स)) — Dense homogeneous inner compartment; enzymes of aerobic respiration.
• Circular DNA (वृत्ताकार DNA) — Single circular DNA — mitochondria are semi-autonomous.
• 70S ribosomes (70S राइबोसोम) — Smaller than cytoplasmic 80S ribosomes.
