Parts and their functions

• Seed coat & fruit wall (बीजचोल और फल भित्ति) — Membranous seed coat fused with the fruit wall.
• Aleurone layer (एल्यूरोन परत) — Proteinous outer layer of the endosperm.
• Endosperm (भ्रूणपोष) — Bulky food-storing tissue (monocot seeds are generally endospermic; orchids are not).
• Scutellum (स्कुटेलम (वरूथिका)) — The single large shield-shaped cotyledon.
• Coleoptile (प्रांकुरचोल) — Sheath enclosing the plumule.
• Plumule (प्रांकुर) — Future shoot.
• Radicle (मूलांकुर) — Future root.
• Coleorhiza (मूलांकुरचोल) — Sheath enclosing the radicle.
