Parts and their functions
- Acetyl CoA (ऐसीटिल CoA) — Formed in the matrix: pyruvic acid + CoA + NAD⁺ → acetyl CoA + CO₂ + NADH (pyruvate dehydrogenase).
- Citric acid (6C) (सिट्रिक अम्ल (6C)) — First product of the cycle — hence citric acid cycle; enzyme citrate synthase.
- α-Ketoglutaric acid (5C) (α-कीटोग्लूटैरिक अम्ल (5C)) — Formed after decarboxylation; then succinyl CoA.
- Succinic acid (4C) (सक्सिनिक अम्ल (4C)) — Succinyl CoA → succinic acid makes 1 GTP (substrate-level phosphorylation).
- Malic acid (4C) (मैलिक अम्ल (4C)) — Oxidised to OAA with NADH formation.
- Oxaloacetic acid (4C) (ऑक्सैलोऐसीटिक अम्ल (4C)) — First member of the cycle; must be regenerated.
- Products (उत्पाद) — Per turn: 3 NADH + H⁺, 1 FADH₂, 1 GTP, 2 CO₂.
