Parts and their functions
- Right atrium (दायाँ अलिंद) — Receives deoxygenated blood from vena cava.
- Left atrium (बायाँ अलिंद) — Receives oxygenated blood from pulmonary veins.
- Right ventricle (दायाँ निलय) — Pumps blood into the pulmonary artery (to lungs).
- Left ventricle (बायाँ निलय) — Thickest wall; pumps oxygenated blood into the aorta.
- Septum (पट) — Inter-atrial and thick inter-ventricular septa keep the two sides apart.
- Tricuspid valve (त्रिवलनी कपाट) — Three muscular flaps; right atrium → right ventricle.
- Bicuspid (mitral) valve (द्विवलनी (माइट्रल) कपाट) — Left atrium → left ventricle.
- Sino-atrial node (SAN) (शिरा-अलिंद पर्व (SAN)) — Generates the most action potentials (70–75 min⁻¹) — the pacemaker.
- Atrio-ventricular node (AVN) (अलिंद-निलय पर्व (AVN)) — Relays the impulse to the ventricles via the AV bundle.
- Bundle of His and Purkinje fibres (हिस का बंडल और पुरकिंजे तंतु) — Spread excitation through the ventricular musculature.
- Vena cava (महाशिरा) — Brings deoxygenated blood to the right atrium.
- Aorta (महाधमनी) — Carries oxygenated blood from the left ventricle to the body.
- Pulmonary artery (फुप्फुस धमनी) — Carries deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle to the lungs.
