Parts and their functions

• Meristematic zone (विभज्योतकी क्षेत्र) — Constantly dividing cells; large nuclei, thin primary walls, abundant plasmodesmata.
• Elongation zone (दीर्घीकरण क्षेत्र) — Increased vacuolation, cell enlargement and new cell wall deposition.
• Maturation zone (परिपक्वन क्षेत्र) — Cells attain maximal size in wall thickening and protoplasmic modification.
• Root cap (मूल गोप) — Protects the delicate apex.
