Parts and their functions

• Outer membrane (बाहरी झिल्ली) —
• Inner membrane (भीतरी झिल्ली) — Relatively less permeable.
• Stroma (पीठिका (स्ट्रोमा)) — Matrix with enzymes for carbohydrate and protein synthesis; DNA and 70S ribosomes.
• Granum (stack of thylakoids) (ग्रैनम (थायलाकॉइड का चट्टा)) — Thylakoids hold chlorophyll; the light reactions happen here.
• Stroma lamellae (पीठिका पटलिकाएँ) — Flat membranous tubules connecting thylakoids of different grana.
• Circular DNA (वृत्ताकार DNA) — Chloroplast DNA.
• 70S ribosomes (70S राइबोसोम) — Smaller than cytoplasmic 80S.
• Starch grain (मंड कण) — Stored product.
