Parts and their functions

• Coccus (pl. cocci) (कोकस (कोकाई)) — Spherical bacteria.
• Bacillus (pl. bacilli) (बेसिलस (बेसिलाई)) — Rod-shaped bacteria.
• Spore (बीजाणु) — Formed by some bacteria in unfavourable conditions; resistant.
• Flagellum (कशाभ (फ्लैजेलम)) — Whip-like organ of movement in motile eubacteria.
• Spirillum (pl. spirilla) (स्पाइरिलम (स्पाइरिला)) — Spiral-shaped bacteria.
• Vibrium (pl. vibrio) (विब्रियम (विब्रियो)) — Comma-shaped bacteria (e.g. the cholera germ).
